SILCHAR: The Cachar District Administration, in collaboration with the Cachar Zilla Parishad, is set to conduct the inaugural session of the newly elected Zilla Parishad members on August 6. The session, scheduled for 2 p.m. at Rajib Bhavan in Silchar, marks a significant step toward strengthening grassroots governance in the district and will be held in compliance with directions from the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Government of Assam.
Pranab Kumar Bora, Chief Executive Officer of Cachar Zilla Parishad, will preside over the session in accordance with provisions under the Assam Panchayat Act, 1994. He will supervise both the oath-taking ceremony and the internal election of the President and Vice-President of the Parishad.
The meeting will follow a structured timeline, with all elected members required to report on time carrying their election certificates and valid photo identification. Cachar District Commissioner Mridul Yadav, has directed that no adjournment will be entertained without substantial cause, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted proceedings.
The internal elections will be conducted on the spot in a free and fair manner. All proceedings will be formally documented, and the final results will be submitted to the appropriate authorities within three days, as mandated by the rules. Officials involved in the organization have affirmed that all statutory procedures are being meticulously followed, with transparency and democratic integrity being given utmost importance.
With final preparations nearing completion, both the district administration and Zilla Parishad officials are working in tandem to ensure the event sets a high benchmark. The session is expected to pave the way for a robust Panchayati Raj structure in Cachar, aligning with the Assam Government’s focus on participatory and transparent rural governance.
