SILCHAR: The 96th birth anniversary of the legendary playback singer Kishore Kumar was celebrated with great enthusiasm and reverence by the Kishore Kumar Fans Club in Silchar. The day-long tribute event, organised by the club, began with a morning session graced by several dignitaries, artists, and admirers of the iconic singer.
The inaugural session was attended by Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, who praised Kishore Kumar’s unparalleled contribution to Indian music and cinema. Speaking on the occasion, he commended the efforts of the Fans Club in preserving the legacy of the legendary artist and promoting musical culture among the younger generation.
The soul of the Fans Club, Sujit Kumar Das—whose tireless dedication has sustained this annual tribute for many years—was especially acknowledged for his contributions. Along with him, several other speakers fondly remembered Kishore Kumar’s unique voice, versatility, and the emotional depth his songs continue to carry across generations. Taimur Raja Choudhury, editor, Samajik Prasanga, and others were present.
The highlight of the celebrations was a grand musical tribute held from 6 pm at the auditorium of Gurucharan University. The event featured performances by local and regional artists who presented a bouquet of Kishore Kumar’s timeless classics.
