PATHARKANDI (LOWAIRPOA): A daring theft was reported late Sunday night at a business establishment near Salgoi Bazar under Bazaricherra police station in Dengarbond, triggering concern among local residents.
The incident took place around 9 p.m. when shop owner Satyaprakash Goala closed his shop and retired for the night in an adjacent room. The next morning, he discovered that the rear wooden window had been broken, the CCTV camera damaged, and a battery, an inverter, and cash stolen from the premises.
The matter was promptly reported to the police, who have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators. The incident has created a sense of panic among locals, prompting demands for increased night-time police patrols and greater involvement of the Village Defence Party (VDP) to strengthen security.
Residents have urged the local administration to step up preventive measures, including advising business owners to maintain their CCTV systems and other security infrastructure. Police officials have assured that efforts are underway to trace the culprits and restore public confidence through swift action.
